MODULE4 : COMPUTER ARCHITECTURE

Memory concepts :
      Conventional and reserved memory, Expanded vs. Extended memory, viewing current, memory location status, choosing & installing memory. 

Expansion Buses :
      Types of Buses- ISA, EISA, VESA, PCI, and micro channel.

Motherboard :
     
Motherboard circuitry introduction and function of Reset logic, CPU logic, DMA wait state, RAM/ROM parity, NMI, I/O port logic Address Data Bus, motherboard connections, jumpers & design, Variations, BIOS and device drivers, Co-processors.

Practicals:  
 

MODULE5 : COMPUTER COMPONENTS

Keyboard & Mouse :

SMPS :  
        Introduction, function and working principles using block/circuit diagram. 

Monitors :
      Elementary principles of scanning, picture formation, video signal and sync signals. Block diagram of computer monitor, concept of resolution and band width requirement.

FDD :
      Physical and logical operation of drive components. Read/write head, spindle motor, circuit board, connectors, drive select jumpers, terminating resistors. Types of floppy disks, alignment and installation.

HDD :
        Testing and operation, drive components, logic board, drive select jumpers, connectors, interfaces, types, features, selection of hard disk drive and hard disk controller, installation, defect, mapping, low level formatting and software installation, partitioning.

CTD, CD-ROM, OPTICAL DRIVES : Types, working principle, installation, Different ports with their pin configuration & interfacing.

Printers :
      Construction & working principles of DMP, Line printers, Laser printer, DeskJet, Block diagram of electronic circuitry, standards of print heads, achieving different fonts, common fault.  

Practicals :
      Fault finding of keyboards, interfacing of mouse with computers, testing and fault finding of SMPS and MONITORS. Common faults in HDD's and FDD's installation of CD-ROM's and CTD's and different softwares. Installation of different printers, their drivers, common faults and preventive maintenance. 

MODULE6 : TROUBLE -SHOOTING

Basics :
        Installation & preventive maintenance Nature of problems, Identification & trouble shooting procedure.

Viruses :
      Types, prevention & cure.

System Up gradation & Improvements :
        Selection, installation & up gradation of motherboards, Central Processing Unit, Memory, Hard disk drive and optimizing their performance. 


Diagnostic Packages :
      PC Tools, QA Plus, AMI Diagnostics, Disk Manager, Norton Utility etc.

Practicals :
     
Preventive maintenance, troubleshooting methods, installation of different anti-virus softwares, testing of sub-assemblies using different tools. 

MODULE 7 : UNIX & LAN

UNIX :
      Introduction to multi-user environment, Installation of SCO UNIX, Device configuration, Basic commands, Decoding error message and Trouble-shooting.

LAN :
      Networking concepts, Topology, Networking hardware, server configuration, Installation of LAN Network Administration, Command, Understanding error message & Trouble shooting.

Practicals :
      Installation of SCO UNIX , device configuration, Installation off NOVELL INTRANETWARE, administration and troubleshooting, different errors, Different types of cabling used in networking, preparation of different cables etc. 

MODULE 8 : MULTIMEDIA & INTERNET

Multimedia components, Sound-blaster Card & CD-ROMs, Installation & operation, Data communication concepts, Modem-Types & Basic functions, E-mail, TCP/ IP, WAN, Internet Overview and Applications.

Practicals :
      Installation of CD-ROM's , sound blaster cards, installation of MODEMS, Installation of INTERNET and E-mail. 

MODULE 9 : PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT

        Communication skills
      Mock Interview

CERTIFICATION

        A student who successfully completes the above modules i.e. module 1 to module 9 will be awarded "ADVANCED DIPLOMA IN COMPUTER HARDWARE MAINTENANCE & NETWORKING"
